Hello and Welcome to Holly Class! We are so excited to be back at school with the children settling into our ‘new normal’.
We have had a great start to the year already and all children have loved being back in school, ready to learn alongside their friends.
In Holly Class, our teacher is Mrs Baines and our teaching assistants are Mrs Morris and Mrs Caven.

Term 1
Our first topic of the year is ‘Me, Myself and I’. We will be looking at ourselves and what makes us all individuals, similarities and differences as well as our local area. We have already been working hard to ensure a smooth and successful start to the term and ensuring children are comfortable with some of the new changes at school.
We are currently taking an EYFS approach to the start of year 1, where they are still able to choose parts of their learning as well as completing group and adult led tasks. This is due to the children missing so much of their first year at school however we will gradually move to a more formal way of working with the children when we feel the time is right and the children are ready for this.
Holly Class currently have PE on a Tuesday morning and a Friday afternoon. Please can you make sure their PE kits are in school from Tuesday – Friday. We will then send them home on a Friday for the weekend. Please ensure all PE kit is clearly named.
Reading
Your child will currently have 1 reading book sent home on a Monday to read for the week, this will then need to come back on the Friday so we can quarantine them over the weekend to ensure they are safe to give out a new book on the Monday. We would encourage you to read at least 5 times a week with your child to help their progress in reading. This can be their school reading book, a book they enjoy reading at home, phonics play games (www.phonicsplay.co.uk), instructions or recipes.
If you need to contact us, please do not hesitate to send a dojo message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Thank you for all your continued support, we are looking forward to a great year in Holly Class!
