Overview

We welcome all children to Forest & Sandridge School and enjoy celebrating the different backgrounds, experiences, and interests they have. From the moment your child arrives in the school, they can be sure of receiving a warm welcome and support and nurturing from all the staff who work with them. Our staff share the primary aim of keeping all children safe and helping them achieve their potential during their time with us.

All admission applications are coordinated through Wiltshire Council. If you wish to apply for a reception place for September or a place at any other time of the year, you can do so using the link below.

We also have paper application forms available at school if you prefer. We are more than happy to offer any support you require with your application, so please ask in the school office if you need assistance.


Open Days

We have two open mornings in October and November to give prospective parents a chance to look around our school and learn a bit more about the school through a short talk by our headteacher. To find out more, get in touch with the school office.

What to Expect

Children will be invited to attend a series of visits to the reception class before they start on a daily basis.

Prior to these visits, and admission to the school, the class teacher will make a home visit, during which parents will have an opportunity to talk to the teacher, fill in the necessary forms, and receive a brochure.

19th June - 17th July

2pm - 3pm

Every Tuesday, come with your child to meet their teacher and get used to their new surroundings.

No need to book!

Applications to attend any of The White Horse Federation's schools are welcomed from all families. If your child was born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015, you need to apply for a primary or infant school place by 15th January 2019.

Admissions Appeals

The headteacher would like to meet with you if you are considering lodging an appeal to talk through the process and explain why your child has not been offered a place at Forest & Sandridge. Please read the letter below for details and to find out how to book an appointment.

If you are unsuccessful in your admission application, you have the right of appeal. The information below will provide you with help and advice. If you wish to discuss the appeal procedure with someone, please contact Liz Wakeley at the school on 01225 703394.

The timetable for appeals is as follows:

Admissions’ Appeals Timetable for Forest & Sandridge Church of England Primary School

For on-time applications within the normal (annual) admissions round:

  • Parents have 21 school days to return an appeal form to the school from the date of their refusal letter. Forms are available here.
  • Admissions authorities must hear the appeal within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals.
  • Appellants will have at least 10 days notice of their appeal hearing.

For late applications within the normal (annual admissions round)

  • Parents have 21 days to return an appeal form to the school from the date of their refusal letter. Forms are available here.
  • Admissions authorities must hear the appeal within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals.
  • Appellants will have at least 10 days notice of their appeal hearing.

For in-year admissions

  • Parents have 21 school days to return an appeal form to the school from the date of their refusal letter. Forms are available here.
  • Admissions authorities must hear the appeal within 30 school days of appeal being lodged.
  • Appellants will have at least 10 days notice of their appeal hearing.
