Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to our class page! Our Teacher is Mrs Prosser and we are very lucky to have four fantastic Teaching Assistants in Upper School. They are Mrs Birkett, Mrs Holdway, Miss Selway, Miss Giddings and Mrs Caven. We are looking forward to having a fantastic year in Poplar Class!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to see Mrs Prosser.

Our first theme of the year is 'Lest We Forget'.  We have lots of exciting things planned for this term and we have already started to look at Titanic in English where we will be writing persuasive adverts, letter and newspaper reports.  In addition to this, we will also be looking at Electricity and Light in Science and, after half term we will start to look at World War 1 in History and English.  For further information about our curriculum this term, please see our Curriculum Newsletter.

Home Learning  smiley

For Year 6 , Home Learning will be put on Class Dojo on a Friday and spellings will need to be learned by the following Friday. Home Learning will include weekly spellings, reading and a termly project challenge.

Remember reading remains very important for everyone; please read at least 5 times a week (as agreed in the Home School Agreement) and could parents please initial children's Reading Record books to show they have read. We always love to see how much the children have read. J

Homework Challenge - Autumn Term

What can you find out about Titanic? Why not research the ship, where was it built? Where did it sail from and where was it going? Who travelled on Titanic? Why did they want to go to New York? Whatever you find out, present it using either PowerPoint or create a poster using media of your own choice. I am really looking forward to seeing what you produce. smiley

Additional Home Learning:

If you would like to do some additional learning at home, there are some great websites for research and revision. Hit the Button is a great way to practise your tables and BBC KS2 Bitesize has lots of opportunities to practise a wide variety of English, Maths and Science topics. Or perhaps you could make a PowerPoint or poster about something you have learnt. I would love to see it smiley
