History of the School
Forest & Sandridge Church of England Aided School is situated at the foot of Sandridge Hill on land originally given by the Hon. Ralph Ludlow Lopes, the then occupant of Sandridge Park.
The school originally consisted on two classrooms with a teacher's house attached and was opened in 1874.
The school was modernised and extended in 1968 to include three classrooms, kitchen and indoor toilet and cloakroom accommodation. It has a playing field adjacent to the school.
In 1990 additional accommodation was created by conversion of the old school house into Staff Room, Library, Offices and Resources Areas.
In 1994 a double mobile classroom was erected on the school field and in 1998 a single mobile classroom was added. In 2001 the school kitchen was converted into a classroom. Another single mobile was added, in 2004, giving the school a total of seven classes and a hall.
In April 2006 we extended our smallest classroom which has made it into a much more workable classroom.
In the Summer of 2006 we converted one of our group rooms into a food preparation area which is used for serving and organising our school meals, group work and cookery.
During the summer of 2007 we had the whole school redecorated and the Key Stage 2 toilets renovated... a long awaited project!
Our newest project is our new mobile classroom which is currently on site and will be ready for use after the October half term. We are not increasing the size of the school, just making more space for the children we have here at the moment. It also means that our tiny classroom (old kitchen) will be turned into a much needed library. All exciting change!
