Forest & Sandridge CE Primary School ensures the learning children do in school incorporates the National Curriculum and Government initiatives. Please click here to see these documents.
Whilst the National Curriculum describes subject areas, we do not teach all of these discretely. Links are made across the curriculum in order to make the children’s learning more meaningful. Our curriculum is skills-based ensuring that children are given the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills during their time at primary school. These skills are organised and taught through a theme which helps the children to make relevant and exciting links between different areas of the curriculum.
To ensure our themes include breadth and depth of knowledge, understanding and skills we also follow our Breadth of Study documents, based on the National Curriculum 2014. (These can be viewed in the individual subject sections below)
Each term parents and carers are given a curriculum newsletter for the coming term in a booklet format (also available on each class area on this website from September 2014). This shows the themes and skills which will be covered during the term. This is to help parents and carers follow and support their child's learning from home.
For more information about the curriculum, please do not hesitate to make an appointment to see your child's class teacher.
