Welcome to Chestnut Class

We are a Year 4 class and our teacher is

Miss Gale.

We are lucky to have three Teaching Assistants in Year 4 who are Mrs Andrews, Miss Allen and Miss McBride. Also in Middle School are Mrs Dequidt, Mrs Morris and Mrs Mortimer.

Our theme this term is:

'Tomb Raiders'

In terms 1 and 2 we are going to be exploring the history of Ancient Egypt. Throughout this topic the children will explore life as an ancient Egyptian and make links and comparisons to modern day Egypt and England. We will explore how culture and religion affected society as well as traditions and beliefs.  The children will be encouraged to ask questions and research answers and will be able to collect information and evidence from a variety of sources. In term 1, we will also explore Ancient Egypt during our Guided Reading sessions as we begin to develop our research and fact retrieval skills to help us learn some interesting facts about Ancient Egyptian daily life.

We are expecting you to read 5 times at week at home. Remember, reading doesn't just have to be sat down with a reading book, you could read a recipe, a newspaper, a magazine or even comic.

Spellings will be set every Monday and will be tested the following Monday. This gives you exactly a week to learn your spellings at home!
