Welcome to Cedar Class!
Hello and welcome to Cedar Class!
We are a year 5/6 class and our teacher is Miss Campbell.
In Cedar Class, we are lucky enough to have three TAs working alongside us, these are; Mrs Leat, Mrs Birkett and Mr Merriman! Mrs Brown will also be supporting us, every Thursday morning :)
We are all really looking forward to the another exciting year ahead in our fantastic school :)
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Campbell
Our Current Theme!
A new year finds us with a new theme, and this term our theme is ‘Ic Andgietleast,’ Saxon for ‘I want to understand’. This will remain for the whole of the Spring Term. It is a History based theme on the Saxons as you have probably guessed!
Through our new topic, we will be gaining an understanding of how the Saxons lived. We will assess the impact they had on Britain before analysing Anglo-Saxon artefacts. We will finish by looking at their fall at Senlac Hill in the Battle of Hastings, 1066. In Term 4, our focus will switch to Geography. We will be looking at the UK, studying its human and physical geographical features. We will compare the UK’s climate with the climate of a South American country. We will then map out contour lines and finish a little closer to home by learning about the town we live in, Melksham.
Just a few reminders!
Children will have a PE session every Wednesday with our sports coach so please ensure that children have PE kit in school at all times.
At certain points in the year, children will be participating in 'Outdoor learning' and will be required to have suitable clothing for this activity. Children will be reminded of this when it is needed!
Important dates for Cedar Class!
Wednesday 14th September - Upper School Meet the Teacher session.
Friday 16th September - House Captain Speeches
Tuesday 7th February - Cedar Class Assembly
Additional Home Learning
If you would like to do some additional home learning there are lots of exciting websites for you to look at! Why don't you practice your times tables or square and cube numbers on Hit the Button? Or you could visit BBC KS2 Bitesize as this has lots of opportunities to practise a wide variety of English, Maths and Science topics.
You could even create a poster or a presentation on something you have found interesting in school throughout the week! I would love to see them :)
